How
To Use Google
Analytics On Your Blog
If you
are new to internet marketing and blogging you may not have
heard of Google Analytics or know how it can benefit your
website. This one tool can tell you a lot about your website
and where your traffic is coming from as well as a vast
amount of other information that you never knew about.
Simply
put, Google Analytics is a free tool that anyone can use
to track visitors and find out what keywords they are using
to reach your website. As well as tracking free traffic
from the search engines, it can also be used with Google
Adwords to calculate return on investment metrics from automatically
imported cost and keyword tracking data.
Although
its a free tool, Google Analytics offers as much or even
more functionalities when compared to other tools that are
not free. It can track visitors from the top search engines,
pay per click advertising, email marketing, and even from
digital files such as PDF documents.
Google
Analytics is especially useful for bloggers because you
will be able to find out the exact keyword phrases people
are using to locate individual pages of your blog. It will
also show you which posts are the most popular and receive
the most traffic so that you can optimise these pages and
maximise your profits.
As time
goes by, you will start to see which keyword phrases you
are getting the most traffic from as well as a whole host
of other long tail keyword phrases that you never thought
of before. When you know what type of people are visiting
your website you will be able to offer more targeted advertising
on your blog.
To use
this tool you first need to open a new Google Analytics
account, submit your website, and then get the code which
you will need to place on each page that you want to track.
This code needs to be placed directly before the </body>
tag in the HTML of each page.
Fortunately,
there is a Word Press plugin called Ultimate
Google Analytics that makes it really easy
to set up within a few minutes. All you have to do is install
and activate the plugin and enter your code into the form.
The plugin will then automatically insert the code into
all of the pages of your blog on your behalf.
