Why
You Should Promote
Posts On Other Blogs
When
you first start blogging and social networking, you may
think that its all about promoting your own blog and generating
as much traffic as possible. While this should be your main
priority, it should also be combined with promoting posts
on other people's blogs for a number of reasons.
Firstly,
promoting posts on other blogs will help you build a reputation
as someone who is not just in it for themselves and is willing
to recommend quality content from other sources. It will
show your readers and other bloggers that you are part of
a community and they may be willing to recommend your content
to other people as well.
But
to make it worth your time and effort, its a good idea to
first leave a relevant comment on the post you want to promote
so that visitors will see a link to your blog. The more
traffic the post gets, the more likely it is that people
will see your comment and visit your blog.
Its
also important to develop relationships with other bloggers
in your niche and a great way to do this is to be a regular
contributor by leaving comments on a daily or weekly basis.
If your comments add value to the posts and expand the topic
you will attract the attention of the blog owners who will
be more likely to visit your own blog to see what you have
to offer (and they may even leave comments on your posts
as well).
Its
also a good idea to start contacting other bloggers in your
niche to see if there is a way to help each other out by
either promoting each other's posts using social networking
websites or exchanging content by guest posting. There are
lots of ways in which bloggers can help each other to get
more exposure.
One
of the best ways to do this is to use micro blogging with
services like Twitter as you will be able to easily promote
posts on other blogs that you have commented on to all of
your followers. As well as this, you can also bookmark each
post using websites like Digg and Delicious.
Once
you have built relationships with other bloggers in your
niche and helped them to promote their posts, they may be
willing to help you out even more in the future. For example,
if you plan on launching a product or service they may be
willing to write a blog post about it and give you some
added exposure.
So instead
of going at it alone and only promoting your own content
all of the time, its much better in the long run to start
interacting with other bloggers and building relationships.
If you have never done this before, its time to make a change
and start doing things differently for the better.
